Northampton Care Home nears Autumn Opening

Posted on in the category(s) Latest News

With the expected completion date fast approaching, the 72 bed Northampton care home in town centre is nearing completion and looks set to be a fantastic addition to the Georgian street scene. The 4 storey building is to offer high dementia care and includes some unique features, as well as high level roof terrace with extending views over the towns roofscape. The first project with the client has produced a bespoke home and hopefully the first of more to come.

Northern Construction Services (http://www.northernconstructionsolutions.co.uk) have recently completed work on the alterations and extension to SSL Healthcare Dementia Home in Lazenby, Cleveland. The Project began some 2 years ago however, home ownership and project structuring has resulting in delays to the construction work itself, but not to the detriment of the building; the result from NCS is an excellent build on one of their first ventures into the care sector.

The team have worked well on what is a difficult project, in terms of architecture and construction; extending a dementia care home full with residents is never an easy task but this was executed very well by the work force on site. SSL Healthcare (http://www.sslhealthcare.com) have added additional bedrooms, all en-suite, one of which being a purpose built respite room with ceiling tracking system. The new and improved entrance creates a far better sense of identity and allows for more efficient working for the staff. We look forward to working with SSL Healthcare and NCS in the future…

Having a ‘whale’ of a time on Site at Barrow

Posted on in the category(s) Latest News

Children from Greengate Infant School in Barrow made a short journey next door to the site where construction of Barrow’s new £6.5m Care Home is under way. The children were invited by the main contractor, GB Building Solutions, to paint a section of the hoarding surrounding the site and decided to base it on a sea theme. The school children wanted to use the theme having recently read The Snail and the Whale, the tale of a tiny mollusc which hitches a ride on the back of a humpback whale.

“AMA and GB have been working on the project for the past few years and getting the community to become heavily involved is really great to see. The children had an absolutely fantastic time”.  The new 60 bed Care Home is labelled as being Cumbria’s premier Home with the brief to acheive University of Sterling Gold Standard.

Christmas Card Donations

For Christmas 2013 AMA decided to limit the printed and posted Christmas cards and maximise financial support to charities and organisations that may require the support. Before the Christmas break staff were asked to nominate worthy causes and 3 were chosen: The Architects Benevolent Society, which supports architects, technologists and landscape architects. The Stroke Association, a charity close to many of our hearts, and last, but by no means least, the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team, with whom Ollie is a volunteer, and who together give up a lot of time for training, searching for missing/injured persons and supporting local events such as the Kielder Marathon.

Northern Construction Services progress well with the 4 bedroom extension and other alteration works at Lazenby, but have opted to leave residents feeling warm and cosy for Christmas by leaving the wall in place rather than knocking through. The team are working well and we’re sure looking forward to the Christmas break.
