Ballymun, Dublin

A unique opportunity to design a Care Home for an Irish Care Operator, on a site with a listed church. The solution was to provide the Care beds in a bespoke new 2-storey building and link into the church.  The church, itself, was a fairly simple structure, with open nave and vaulted ceiling.

A new mezzanine floor was introduced to three quarters of the space, complete with contemporary glass balustrade, creating the entrance and dining facilities required by the house. The Home proved to be a great success, and was awarded the “Best New Building in Ballymun”, in the Dublin City awards 2009.
